Search Engine

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of methods aimed at improving the ranking of a website in search engine listings, and could be considered a subset of search engine marketing. The term SEO (Search Engine Optimizers) also refers to an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients' sites. Some commentators, and even some SEOs, break down methods used by practitioners into categories such as "white hat SEO" (methods generally approved by search engines, such as building content and improving site quality), or "black hat SEO" (tricks such as cloaking and spamdexing). White hatters charge that black hat methods are an attempt to manipulate search rankings unfairly. Black hatters counter that all SEO is an attempt to manipulate rankings, and that the particular methods one uses to rank well are irrelevant.

A proxy site is simply an ordinary website that sits in between your computer and the Internet. It works by handling all data on your behalf, thus giving you a greater degree of privacy and security while you surf online. With the proxy sitting in the middle you have minimal threats from hackers, viruses, trojans etc. It also means that when you browse the Internet, you are safe because things like you IP address, geographical location etc are safe. When you browse the Internet, websites that you visit record various pieces of information and uses it for god knows what. Surfing behind a proxy eliminates this problem.

{mos_sb_discuss:47} Keywords are phrases you want your website to be found under. Often corporate climates force people to refer to things using special phrases. {mos_sb_discuss:47} One look at Google's Accessible Web Search is enough to make even the most stubborn web coder understand that compliant, accessible design is no longer the infatuation of some W3C enthusiasts, but a necessity. Even amateur SEOs will stop affirming that W3C compliance has nothing to do with getting high Google rankings.

{mos_sb_discuss:47} For a long time, the term “META tags” conjured up notions of pure magic. People didn’t quite know what they were, but they knew they were an integral part of search engine surfing. I remember a prospective client who attempted to sum up my one-hour presentation like this: “So basically, you’re going to jigger with those meta-thingies on all of our Web pages and then the search engines will make us come up in the top spots.
