JVC is launching some super slim LCD TV LT42DS9, the Sophisti Design Audio DVD System, showcasing the upcoming 4K2K technologies using 4K2K video cameras, 4K2K LCD TVs and 4K2K projectors. Those 4K2K technology demos were one of the IFA highlights in my opinion. The quality is totally amazing, it is showing about 10 million pixels per frame, basically that is 10 megapixel video. Sure 10 megapixel video requires really high bandwidth, but with advanced H264 encoding, a 10 megapixel 4K2K video can fit in 50mbit/s, and 50mbit/s can be delivered over Fiberoptical Internet connections and probably that you would be able to fit a 4K2K stream on a Blu-ray disc which has a 48mbit/s bandwidth limit. At that bitrate, a 2 hour 4K2K movie could fit on about 43GB, so it can perfectly well fit on a dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray disc.

As the demand for the true home cinema experience increases, JVC have developed a 110 inch rear projection TV. The D-ILA (Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier) element uses Liquid Crystal on Silicon technology. This method prevents colour breaking, often found in DLP screens and drastically reduces the pixelation, or 'screen door' effect seen in conventional LCD projectors. The size of the screen is equivalent to nine 37" LCD screens however its electricity consumption is the same as one LCD screen. JVC plan to use this technology in their projection systems for next generation cinemas.

The W500 maintains high contrast, whatever's on screen and wherever you're watching.  The W500 features an iris-like lens design that mimics our own eye, adjusting the aperture after analyzing the incoming video signal. The aperture is contracted during dark scenes for truer black tones and enhanced detail, while it is enlarged for bright scenes to maximize light output and enable a wider dynamic range. No matter what type of content is on, the W500 ensures that you get the very best viewing experience.
