Mozilla has announced it’s new Project – Mozilla Firefox 3.6 which is codenamed “Namoroka“, with an intended release target of early-to-mid 2010 Firefox 3.6 or Namoroka will be based on Gecko 1.9.2 with new enhancements and features. The current goals are: PerformanceThe time taken for startup, opening a new tabs, and responsiveness with the user inferface will be improved. Common user tasks will feel more responsive and faster. and will improve the time by 50 milliseconds. Firefox 3.6 will also have an improvement of startup speed – they are looking for speed increases by lessening the startup time by 50ms compared to 3.5 to startup time. Firefox 3.6 will also be implementing animation and other techniques to improve perceive speed and efficiently reduce the lag time between action and feedback. Personalization and CustomizationFirefox 3.6 will also introduce identity management and probably the feature to create more than one users for the browser. Light Weight Themes and Add-onsFirefox 3.6 will allow the user to install “light weight” themes and add-ons without requiring a restart to install the selected component. Customized Browser BehaviorsFirefox 3.6 will introduce identity management and will customize browser behaviors based on personal history like:
Task Based NavigationFirefox 3.6 will support web navigation by tag/date/source metadata. TabsIt will also add the ability to create, save and restore groups of tabs as well as searching for an existing tab. Common Web-application TasksIt will also allow users to accomplish common web-application tasks with the help of Taskfox. Taskfox will be part of the existing Firefox user interface, and will be localized to all locales that Firefox ships with. Improved Download ManagerFirefox 3.6 will introduce file management tasks such as deleting, moving, cut/pasting in the download manager. Web Application SupportFirefox 3.6 will improve editing tools for creating rich data on websites, allow users to save a page as web app and also, improve user interface for sending files to websites.
