Now it’s time to start the actual installation. Browse to your domain and if you FTP-ed the Joomla! files to a subdirectory make sure to append it to the URL.

The pre-installation check should start automatically and return the following results:

Migrating from a local hotst test to live site, Friday, 26 February 2010

Hi, I thought this article was very good, but many people want to be able to migrate a site they have developed on a local host to a GoDaddy server and your article does not cover this. I have been struggling for many hours to find information to do just this. Would it be possible to expand this article or to write a new one which explains this as many use a local WAMP stack but there seems little or no information about this for GoDaddy.
Many thanks,
Holly.

Hi. I followed your "joomla! installation instructions on godaddy servers" and it was very helpful but I have a question about the pre-installation check. When you say;

"Browse to your domain and if you FTP-ed the Joomla! files to a subdirectory make sure to append it to the URL. The pre-installation check should start automatically and return the following results"

I must be doing something wrong because nothing starts automatically. I FTP-ed the joomla template from the "FTP client" on godaddy from the hosting control center. I tried just about everything i could think of on finding the domain and appending the directory to the URL and got nowhere. Any tips will help a lot. Thanks

Thanks so much. I am very new to CMS so your tutorial helped me alot.
One question though, I have been searching around for the answer to turn OFF
the "register_global". I honestly do not know what this is but it seems like
it has something to do with the security. If it's not too time consuming for you
to explain, can you help me out with this? Thank you sooooo much!
