Even if you have not worked with Visual Studio or SQL Server, this book will bring you up to speed in SQL Server Integration Services, by no means a small feat. If you have used DTS before, then start with this book to get the gist of SSIS. It is a small volume at an affordable prize. You will learn some 20 or so tasks and by the time you finish the book (may take some 10 to 15 days at a leisurely pace) you will really feel that you have learnt some thing. You need Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server prefarably SQL Server 2005 or even the express edition. It is not for advanced users although I know of an advanced user who used it.
